El Vigésimo Primer Festival Argentino de Arlington presenta este año con gran orgullo, a Pancho Figueroa con "Un canto Chalchalero." Chaqueño de nacimiento, Pancho se destaco durante los últimos 39 años de los Chalchaleros como primera voz y primera guitarra del conjunto, haciendo también los arreglos y punteos dejados por el desaparecido Ernesto Cabeza. En el año 2002, el conjunto se despide de su público con 24 recitales en Teatro Coliseo de Buenos Aires y una gira por todo el país, para luego volver a recorrer el mundo y culminar la gran despedida en Salta con grandes festejos el 16 de junio de 2002. Hoy Pancho ha regresado a los escenarios de la música, e incentivado por sus amigos lanzó editado un CD de Boleros "También Boleros" y uno de folklore "Solo por cantar", que fueron no solo presentados en nuestro país, sino también en España, Colombia, Ecuador y Perú. En la actualidad pone los toques finales de su música para lanzar un segundo CD de folklore, y es justamente en el prestigioso

The Twentieth First Argentine Festival of Arlington is proud to presents this year the legendary interpreter Pancho Figueroa with "A Chalchalero Song." Born in the Argentinean province of El Chaco, Pancho achieved great success in his 39 years with the Chalchaleros as the first voice and lead guitar of the group. During that time, he also finished many musical arrangements left by the late Ernesto Cabeza. In 2002, the group was dissolved, but not before concluding their association with 24 recitals in the Theater Coliseo of Buenos Aires and a countrywide tour. They also toured the world to culminate their farewell in Salta with great festivities on the 16 of June of 2002. Today Pancho has returned to the music scene, and encouraged by his friends he launched a CD of Boleros "Also Boleros" and one of Argentinean folklore "Solo Por Un Cantar," not only in Argentina but also in Spain, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. At the moment, Pancho is putting its final touches to the songs that he will release in a second CD of folklore. He will share his music with the community at the prestigious Twenty First Argentine Festival of Arlington (www.FestivalArgentinousa.com.)

LAS CINCO VOCES
Desde Salta llegan al Vigésimo Primer Festival Argentino de Arlington, cinco voces femeninas interpretando el sentir musical de un país que es grande y rico en tradiciones folklóricas.

El norte argentino ha sido cuna de destacados valores de nuestra música, y hoy nos permite conocer a Las Cinco Voces, conjunto integrado por Verónica Marcos, Soledad Issa, Melina Calabrés, Jimena Teruel y Estefanía Niewolski.

El Vigésimo Primer Festival Argentino se enorgullece de compartir su escenario con estas representantes del cantar salteño, quienes, desde sus inicios actuaron en reiteradas oportunidades con otros grandes de la música folklórica como, Los Chalchaleros, Los Nocheros, Zamba Quipildor, Vale 4, Los Tekis, y otros.
Con una trayectoria de casi una década, llevando su propuesta musical por distintos escenarios y eventos de la Argentina, el fin de año las encontró participando en el último disco de Los Nocheros “GEN”, donde fueron invitadas a cantar en el tema “Anillo de Humo”, el cual es el corte del disco. Actualmente se encuentran participando en la gira de presentación de este disco junto a Los Nocheros.

El 2º CD de Las Cinco Voces está listo y a la espera de ser lanzado a mediados de este año. En el se podrán escuchar temas de autoría propia y fusión de folclore con ritmos latinos, baladas y candombes.

THE FIVE VOICES
The Twenty First Argentine Festival of Arlington, Virginia, is pleased to welcome five female voices from Salta, Argentina, representing the rich musical traditions of a country proud of its folklore.
The northern region of Argentina has been the cradle of well-known interpreters of our music, and today we’re pleased to receive “The Five Voices” a group integrated by Verónica Marcos, Soledad Issa, Melina Calabrés, Jimena Teruel y Estefanía Niewolski.
This festival is proud to share the stage with these new interpreters of the folk music of Salta. From their start they performed in concerts presented by: The Chalchaleros, Los Nocheros, Zam,ba Quilpidor,Vale 4, Los tekis and others.
Together for near one decade, they have performed in music festivals around their country. Toward the end of 2007 we found them finishing their work with Los Nocheros in their last CD GEN where they were invited to sing Anillos de Humo (Smoke Rings). Presently they are touring with The Nocheros.
The 2nd CD of The Five Voices will be ready for distribution sometime during the middle of this year. Here, they perform their own music in a combination of folk music together with ballads, Latin rhythms and candombes.

Tango Reo comenzó en 2006 con grupo de amigos unidos por su pasión para la música del tango. El trío esta compuesto por Claudia Gargiulo, reconocida vocalista por la claridad de su voz. Kristin Snyder, violinista estadounidense profesora de música y graduada del método Suzuky. Y Victor Medina, pianista venezolano graduado del Instituto Peabody de la Universidad John Hopkins.

Claudia ha cantado y ha actuado en Suramérica y Europa, participando en festivales y teatros en Verona, Viareggio, Bari, y Milano, Italia y Buenos Aires. En el 2004, ganó el primer premio como mejor cantante en la "Competición Internacional de Tango" en Nueva York. Claudia Gargiulo ha cantado con la Orquesta Sinfónica de McLean, la Orquesta Sinfónica Pan-Americana y en varios grupos locales. Solista, actriz, y profesora, ha colaborado con el Teatro Hispano Gala. Claudia Gargiulo, una argentina con la correcta apreciación del tango residente del área metropolitana de Washington D.C., es además profesora de canto.

Tango Reo started in 2006 as a group of friends with a passion for tango music. The trio is made up by vocalist Claudia Gargiulo from Argentina, violinist Kristin Snyder, U.S., is a music teacher, certified in the Suzuki method and pianist Victor Medina, U.S./Venezuela, graduated from the Peabody institute of Jhon Hopkins University.

Claudia Gargiulo is a well-known mezzo-soprano performer known for the clarity of her voice. She has previously sung and acted in South America and Europe, performing in festivals and theatres in Verona, Viareggio, Bari, and Milan, Italy and Buenos Aires. In 2004 she won the first prize as best singer at the “International Tango Competition” in New York. She has sung with the McLean Symphony Orchestra, The Pan-American Symphony Orchestra and several local groups. She has collaborated with Gala Hispanic Theatre in Washington DC as both a singer and actress, and she now promotes Argentine tango and contemporary Latin American music in North America. Salida 156, nace del proyecto conjunto de Diego Castellón (ex bajista de Hiomas) y Matías Jiménez (cantante solista) ambos de Argentina. Salida 156 comienza la búsqueda de quien rompiera los esquemas y marcaría ‘la diferencia.” Después de una larga búsqueda por el integrante que formaría parte de esta familia, conocimos a Mike Merchant, poniendo en marcha este proyecto sincero, real, de ilusión y calidad, marcando un estilo único que utiliza como base al rock mezclándolo con ritmos “folklóricos latinoamericanos.”

“Salida 156” was born from a project started by Diego Castellón (former bass player of Hiomas) and Matías Jiménez (soloist) both from Argentina. Salida 156 begins their quest to find someone that would break the mold and mark ‘the diference.” After a long search for the new member of the family, we met Mike Merchant and started this project based in sincerity, realism and quality, creating a unique stile that is based in the rock and roll with “Latin American folk rhythms.

ZULI RUSSI una Profesional de la Salud nacio en Uruguay, donde crecio entre Tangos. Su padre un poeta y cantor de Tangos, es responsable de inplantar en su alma el carino por la musica del Rio de la Plata. In 1999 se asocia con Ponti y se convierte en bailarina de Tango, por lo que alcanza un sueno acunado por anos en su corazon. Ella sostiene: “Tango es la expresion mas pura y genuina de la pasion, el romanticismo y la creatividad de uno. Una experiencia unica que permite conectarnos profunda y espiritualmente con nuestra pareja sin la nesecidad de mencionar palabra alguna”. Junto con Ponti han llevado su estilo Propio de Tango a grandes escenarios y al mundo cinematografico. Ella no solo es la principal pareja de baile de Ponti sino tambien socia y Vice Presidenta de PONTITANGO . 2007 sera un ano para recordarlo, reflexiona ella, el Festival Argentino celebra sus 20 anos de existencia y "La Cumparsita", su Tango favorito, cumple 90 anos desde su creacion.

PONTI DEL MERCADO a Marketing Professional is the Founder and President of PONTITANGO "The Tango Ambassadors". Company dedicated since 1993 to provide Instructions, Exhibitions, Promotion and Lecture on Tango & History in Washington DC. He discovered Tango at a very early age inspired by his mother, an Argentine Tango Dancer Blanca Mercado and her memories of Stage Tango. As a performer he has participated in numerous Multicultural & Social Events, among them The Argentinean Festival. The Embassy of Argentina and The Embassy of Uruguay hosted many of his Tango Performances and Lessons. His curriculum is extensive and diversified with appearances in; The World Bank, The Inter-American Development Bank, OAS, Social Security Administration, Library of Congress, National Building Museum, Department of Homeland Security, Masonic Temple, Woodrow Wilson House, Russian House, Washington Club, The Latino Coalition, Miss Latina USA, NOVA College & George Mason University his Alma Matter among others. ZULI RUSSI is a Health Care Professional born in Uruguay, where she grew up amidst Tango. Her father a Tango singer and poet, is responsible for instilling in her soul the love for the music of del Rio de la Plata. In 1999 she partnered with Ponti and became a Tango dancer, hence achieving a dream she cuddled in her heart throughout her life. She states: “Tango is the most pure and genuine expression of one’s passion, romanticism and creativity. An unique experience that allows you to deeply and spiritually connect with your partner without the need to say a single word”. Together with Ponti, they have brought Unparalleled Tango Style to Film and Stage. She is not only Ponti's main dance partner but also an Associate of PONTITANGO and VP. 2007 is the year to be remembered, she said: The Argentinean Festival celebrates it´s 20th aniversary and her favorite tango, " La Cumparsita", turns 90 years old.
